chihuahua ate my glucosamine chondroitin??
my 5 lb chihuahua just ate a glucosamine chondroitin pill on accident. will this hurt her?? it contains: Glucosamine hydrochloride 1500 mg chondroitin sulfate 300mg joint lubercant (MSM and hyaluronic acid) 120 mg

  • dogs are often given glucosamine/chondroitin/msm supplements if their breed is predisposed to joint problems, or if they have pre-existing joint problems. for a dog under twenty-five pounds, the amount of glucosamine in a daily supplement is about 500 mg, or a little less. so your chihuahua got several times the daily amount.. but i don't think it should harm her. during the initial period of using such a supplement, dogs get twice the normal amount (about 100 mg for a smaller dog), so 1500 mg.. that's not too dramatic.. but that's just my reasoning. call a vet to be sure.

  • I work at a vet clinic – it's nearly impossible to overdse on glucosamine, etc. Your dog will be just fine – that's actually a normal supplement to give dogs anyway. If you're very concerned and it just happened you can induce vomiting by giving ~1/4 cup of peroxide every 10 minutes until it vomits. Best wishes!

  • Really?

Not all of those drugs are ideally perfect as there are a lot of them which include various chemicals which aren’t well for the health of a person. Therefore, it has been recommended that one should be very careful in this respect, and he needs to ensure that he is going to use such product which is ideally perfect and preferable to use without any fears in mind regarding side effects. Natural products are far too better and good in this respect because they’re not made with unhealthy substances and artificial chemicals as they’re completely pure. They aren’t going to harm the body neither health of an individual will diminish with their usage. So, one should look to use natural product rather than using other kinds of irrelevant products.
