Here are some things you can eat or drink that aren't harmful, some of which can actually help with your condition: 1. Citrate: Citrate helps to lower the Ph level in the urine, which contributes to reducing uric acid levels in the urine. Lemons and oranges (or their juice) are good sources of citrate. 2. Water As the other poster mentioned, drinking enough water is also crucial in creating a favorable urinary solution. You'll want to decrease your sodium intake for the same reason. 3. Dark berries Dark berries are sometimes recommended in gout diets because they have been shown to contain chemicals that lower uric acid and reduce inflammation. Dark berries to eat include blueberries, cherries, and strawberries. 4. Pineapple: Pineapple is high in bromelain, which has been shown to help reduce the inflammation associated with gout. 5. Vegeterian diet: Most meats are high in purines, but most nuts, fruits and vegetables are low in purines, with the marked exception of brewer's yeast.
