FAQ’s: Arthritis of the spine and physical therapy ?
After an MRI of the lower back and of the neck, I was told by the doctor that physical therapy would help the arthritis so it wouldn't cause as many problems. It was not serious enough for surgery, but this condition causes problems for a minute or two with walking after getting up from sitting and hip discomfort if laying on the hip at night to sleep, there are no hip joint problems, xrays already revealed that, it is supposedly originating with the spine instead, according to the doctors. So what I wanted to find out is that if anyone else reading my post has had a problem like this and was physical therapy sessions helpful for their condition ? What are some of your experiences with spinal arthritis ? Thank you for your comments.

  • Hello, I do have arthritis in my back but also a spinal fusion with a plate and screws. I have been to physical therapy many times by doctors orders and every single time, they were trying to get me to do things that injured me even more, I quit every time. Those therapists are trained to try to get you back to normal and you can not be normal when you hurt. I hope they can help you though, but i doubt it.God bless
