I am 57 and have been taking senior vitamins for about 6 months due to Vitamin D deficiency, both doctor prescribed RX Vit D and the vitamins. I did not put the two together, but I began to experience severe pain in both knees and my shoulder joints. It got so bad I couldn't bend down or once down couldn't get up unaided. Blood levels showed elevated Vitamin D so I stopped the RX vit d…I also quite taking the vitamins and the pain has completely vanished! Anyone have an idea of what happened??? Thanks

  • I am 48 and just found out I had a Vit D level of 7, pretty low. my doctor gave me rx vit d. after my third pill (one every 4 days) my right shoulder has begun to sharply hurt. My daughter who is 25 and has lupus, and many months of chronic pain, about a month ago, got tested and her Vit D was low at 17. Her doctor gave her rx vit d. telling her to take 2 pills right away and then 1 pill every week there after. she accidentally took 2 pill the day after the first 2 pill and she developed sharp severe pain in her right shoulder much more worse than mine and it lasted for almost 4-5 days. I mentioned this to my doctor before I was diagnosed and she didn't think the vit d had anything to do with this. But now that I have the shoulder pain i am going to mention to my doctor. So, maybe we all need to tell our doctors and others. maybe this is a side effect of too much vit d or too much too fast. best wishes.
